Getting going again!

The team at Hansam had a fabulous Christmas and New Year's but down we came with January the first. 
Christmas blues set it's toll amongst the staff; no more sparkle, no more joyous music, no more festivities.
The days became darker, colder, longer and all we dreamt of was snuggling up in a fluffy blanket with a cup of tea in front of the telly.

As the longest month of the year arrives with dreaded bills to pay and the New Year's resolution guilt, we decided to hop on the first flight to sunny Cyprus in the hopes to find some new motivation. We recharged the batteries and allowed ourselves time to wind down in the ray of sunshine and with an ice cold Keo.


Picking up good old fashioned pen and paper, we put our heads together to plan for the year.
                               "You've got to think six months ahead" as Mark always says.


Of course we know that not everyone can just hop on a plane somewhere but here are the things we find helpful to get ourselves going again after the first dreaded month of the new year:

1. A change in work space.
If you work from home then you should definitely do this when the juices stop flowing. Move yourself to a different location to allow yourself a new and fresh perspective. 

2. Liaise with your colleagues. 
Two heads are better than one, so don't be afraid to ask for help.
A lot of the time the ideas are there but it helps to talk them through with someone to enhance idea progression.

3. Exercise.
The dreaded task applies to the body and mind. Regular exercise improves your health and brain functions. Going for a walk clears the mind, strengthens your heart and betters the blood circulation in your body.

4. Have a break.
Pick up the KitKat and step away from your desk. We’re all guilty of being workaholics but sometimes you need to know when it’s time to let go and give yourself a little break. 

5. Laughing. 
Work is up there as one of the most stress-enduring factors in life, which laughing can combat.
Laughter releases natural feel-good endorphins. Who does't want a dose of them?


Don't be disheartened if you're lacking motivation, it happens to the best of us. Let's go into February being more positive and getting back on track.
